Interview: Tony Moran (Halloween)

To celebrate Halloween we caught up with original bogeyman Tony Moran who portrayed Michael Myers (unmasked) in the horror classic Halloween.

What inspired you to become an actor?
Seeing the movie The Godfather, when I saw that movie and the acting and the brilliance of it hooked me.

You portrayed Michael Myers (Unmasked)  in the horror classic Halloween 1978 – how was it working on this film?
It was a blast – just like now, working on independent horror films. It is almost always a close knit group working for the same thing and loving every minute of it.

What was it like working with legendary film maker John Carpenter?
It was great; he was a very down to earth, very intelligent and had a good sense of humour.

Are you still in touch with any of the films cast/crew?
I am. P.J. Soles and I do a lot of the same events and I just got reacquainted with Nick Castle a few weeks ago, I see Tommy Lee Wallace every now and then on the circuit also.

Have you seen and of the franchises sequels/remakes – and if so what did you think of them?
I have not seen them and have no desire to.

Did you ever expect the film to become such a horror classic?
No I had no idea. None of us really did. I thought maybe a couple weeks at the drive in and then disappear.

Moving on from Halloween you have portrayed numerous  roles over the years which has been your personal favourite?
Besides Michael Myers I would say a part I played in a movie called Ungovernable Force and I played Don Corbucci. A Mafia don.

What is your favourite movie of all time?

A tie between The Godfather and Boondock Saints

Do you have any upcoming projects?
I am supposed to be doing a movie called William Froste an all star horror cast is supposed to be in it – should be good.
