Comic Con Cymru 2016

imageSouth Wales newest film/TV & comic convention debuted at St Davids Hall, Cardiff on 16th & 17th January 2016.
The event filled most floors of the venue’s foyer with a variety of stalls selling comics, crafts & film/TV merchandise as well as exhibits, talks, celebrity guests, autographs, cosplay & photo sessions. Offering low entry fee’s the event was well attended both days by people of all ages.

Celebrity guests included Colin Baker (Doctor Who), Nicola Bryant (Doctor Who), Ian McNeice (Doc Martin), Gareth David-Lloyd (Torchwood), Norman Lovett (Red Dwarf), Arti Shah (Star Wars), Pam Rose (Star Wars), Virginia Hey (Farscape) and many more!

Activities & exhibits included a Terminator Exhibition, full size Dalek’s, a replica ‘Game of Thrones’ Throne, Simpsons couch and a very popular Jedi Academy ran by Andrew Lawden (who worked on Phantom Menace).

There was also a Charity Auction closing the event on the Sunday afternoon of various film/TV  related items; hosted by Jesse McClure (Storage Hunters) in aid of local charities Ty Hafan, Velindre & Mind.

We look forward to the next event! A welcome addition to the South Wales ‘geek-friendly’ event scene.

  1. It was an excellent inaugural event, and I hope they come back next year! The venue was a little odd (5 floors and lots of people!) and there were timing issues with the panels, but otherwise I thoroughly enjoyed it.
