SDCC16 First Look – Ash vs. Evil Dead Steelbook packaging (plus season 2 teasers)

San Diego Comic-Con 2016 is currently under way !!!!! Straight from the convention is a first look at “Ash vs. Evil Dead” Season 1’s Limited Edition Steelbook packaging!

“Ash vs. Evil Dead”  premiered on Halloween 2015. The series is executive produced by Sam Raimi, Rob Tapert, and Bruce Campbell, and Craig DiGregorio, who serves as executive producer and showrunner.

The series is set 30 years after the first three Evil Dead films (although the events of the third Evil Dead film, Army of Darkness, are not directly referenced). Ashley J. “Ash” Williams works at the “ValueShop” mart as a simple salesclerk. His life has gone nowhere and he now lives in a trailer, drinking in bars at night and having occasional sex with various women, usually after making up a sensational story about how he lost his hand. After having inadvertently read the incantation from the Book of the Dead again, he unleashes the Kandarian Demon one more time. A new set of events brings him to assume his former fighting persona and face the new demonic plague in order to save the human race.

Campbell reprises his role as Ash, the stock boy, aging lady lover, and chainsaw-handed monster hunter who has spent the last 30 years avoiding responsibility, maturity, and the terrors of the Evil Dead.

When a Deadite plague threatens to destroy all of mankind, Ash is finally forced to finally face his demons – personal and literal. Destiny, it turns out, has no plans to release the unlikely hero from its “Evil” grip.

The cast is led by Bruce Campbell in the role of Ash Williams; and introduces new characters:-

Lucy Lawless as Ruby, a mysterious figure who believes Ash is the cause of the Evil outbreaks,

Ray Santiago as Pablo Simon Bolivar, an idealistic immigrant who becomes Ash’s loyal sidekick,

Dana DeLorenzo as Kelly Maxwell, a moody wild child trying to outrun her past,

Jill Marie Jones as Amanda Fisher, a disgraced Michigan State Trooper set to find our anti-hero Ash and prove his responsibility in the grisly murder of her partner.

Raimi directed the first episode of “Ash vs. Evil Dead,” which he wrote with Ivan Raimi  and Tom Spezialy.

At a presentation to the Television Critics Association on January 8, 2016, Starz CEO Chris Albrecht said that he “saw the first script a couple days ago” and that progress on the season was going “full speed ahead”. Season 2 will premiere this October 2016.

Season two will feature Ash’s return to his Michigan hometown, where he inevitably crosses paths with his father played by Lee Majors.

In this image, it looks like the senior Williams is prepared to take zero shit from whoever’s pointing the gun in the foreground (looks like it’s probably Lucy Lawless’ character, Ruby).

And grooviness apparently runs in the family—just check out that boomstick. Bring on Season 2 !!!!!
