The Doctor Who Experience (located in Cardiff Bay, South Wales) is one of the largest and most ambitious Doctor Who exhibitions ever staged. Featuring props and costumes from throughout the shows history encompassing both the classic and modern era of Who; including screen used items from the BBC’s archives as well as exhibits from private collections and many reproduced and refurbished items.
The exhibition previously appeared as a smaller exhibition at Cardiff’s Red Dragon Centre in 2005 and London’s Olympia in 2011 before opening to the public in it’s semi-permanent home (Cardiff Bay) in July 2012. however the experience will sadly be closing it’s doors for the final time on the 9th September 2017.
We have visited the experience several times previously over years, and have been impressed with constant changes to the interactive experience and exhibitions. This visit was no different!
For it’s final season the experience has added lots of new exhibits from Season 10 including props, costumes and sets that join the Peter Capaldi and Pearl Mackie costumes which were already part of the exhibition.
They had also added a small Torchwood section in honour of the Doctor Who spin-offs 10th anniversary featuring costumes and props from the show.
A newly restored Yeti (from the Patrick Troughton story ‘The Web of Fear’); which was was voted by fans as the Doctor Who monster they’d most like to see restored as part of the ongoing Restoration Project.
