Lucasfilm has announced further details and new poster for their upcoming release Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker at D23 today.
During the panel held in ‘Hall D23’ at the Anaheim Convention Center in Anaheim, California, Lucasfilm president and producer Kathleen Kennedy and Writer/Director J J Abrams provided further insight into the upcoming and final instalment of the Skywalker Saga.
During the panel the entire cast came onstage to share their thoughts on the upcoming film.
Kathleen Kennedy described the film in a simple but effective sentence,
“It’s an incredibly good time.”
Anthony Daniels, who has played C-3P0 in all 9 films,
“It’s hard for me to understand that it’s really ending.”
Ian McDiarmid, who is reprises his role as Emperor Palpatine says,
he can’t believe this is ending but “what an ending. … You’ll love it.”
These announces came during the ‘Walt Disney Studios Panel’.
During the event, Walt Disney Studios presents a behind-the-scenes look at its blockbuster collection of upcoming films. Fans will glimpse what’s on the drawing board for the acclaimed filmmakers at Walt Disney Animation Studios and Pixar Animation Studios and get a peek at the exciting slate of live-action projects, from Disney to Marvel Studios to Lucasfilm’s Star Wars. The Rise of Skywalker will see the Resistance face the First Order once more, and the end of the ancient conflict between the Jedi and the Sith.
The film is scheduled to be theatrically released in the United States on December 20, 2019.
In addition to the new trailer for The Mandalorian, Disney+ confirmed that a new Star Wars series featuring Ewan McGregor reprising the role of a young Obi-Wan Kenobi is in the works.
The franchise made the announcement Friday at the D23 expo, where Star Wars producer Kathleen Kennedy told the audience, “We have all the scripts written, we’re ready to start shooting next year,”.
