Star Wars actor Alan Harris passes away

It has been reported today that sadly Star Wars actor Alan Harris has passed away aged 81.
Alan started out as a model before moving into work on stage and later in film & television.

He played many roles in the Star Wars franchise both in front of and behind the camera.
In Star Wars: Episode IV A New Hope, Harris portrayed Leia’s Rebel Escort, as well as a Rebel mechanic in the war room in a separate scene. He also played a Stormtrooper in the film.

Harris doubled for Anthony Daniels as C-3PO for The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi, and also had the original Boba Fett costume modelled around him, as well as having his body moulded for the iconic carbonite block of Han Solo.

Perhaps his best known role was playing Bossk the bounty hunter in The Empire Strikes Back.

Harris returned to the saga to double for Terence Stamp in The Phantom Menace due to his resemblance to the actor.

Other work included recurring roles in the Doctor Who stories The Trial of The Time Lord & The Face Of Evil among many other TV & film appearances including classic British TV series The Avengers & Space: 1999
