Will Eubank and Christopher Landon are teaming up for the reboot of the supernatural horror franchise, Paranormal Activity.
Eubank, is attached to direct while Landon, a Paranormal stalwart who wrote four of the previous movies before going on to become a hit horror director in his own right, will pen the script for what is being described by insiders as an “unexpected retooling” of the franchise.
Jason Blum and Oren Peli are back as producers while Steven Schneider is back as executive producer.
Created by Peli, who wrote, directed, and shot the initial installment, Paranormal is a horror movie series focused, in most outings, on a family terrorised by a demon. The movies capitalised on the growing use of video and cell phone cameras to tell spooky and jump-scare-filled tales to great effect. Made on micro-budgets, the movies were massive money-makers, with the first one considered to be among the most profitable movies ever made.
Plot details for the new outing are being kept behind the lens but it is known that it will continue to the found footage device.
The new Paranormal is due for release on March 4, 2022.
