Originally set for theatrical release in 2020, The Forever Purge was pushed back to 2021 and had been set for release on July 9, 2021 due to the ongoing Covid 19 pandemic.
The Forever Purge has now been moved up to July 2nd 2021.
The film “takes the Purge out of its usual metropolitan setting while still dealing with class and race issues in the way the previous films have.”
“The movie will take place after the events of Election Year and will centre on Adela (Ana de la Reguera) and Juan (Tenoch Huerta), who find solace at a Texan ranch, having fled a drug cartel in Mexico. Things go awry when a group of outsiders decide to keep purging beyond the allotted time when people can break any and all laws.”
Previously, series creator James DeMonaco hinted that this film would the final entry in the series and the title seems to reflect this.
In October 2018, DeMonaco stated:
“I think it’s a great way to end it all. We want to end it all, I think, in this one, and I’m very excited. When I came up with the idea and pitched it to everybody, they seemed psyched, and I think it will be a really cool ending, how we take this one home.”
The cast includes Leven Rambin (True Detective), Ana de la Reguera (Goliath), Will Patton (Halloween), Cassidy Freeman (Longmire) and Tenoch Huerta (Narcos: Mexico).
Everardo Gout will direct this latest installment.
