RUMOUR – Olly Alexander in talks for ‘Doctor Who’

Olly Alexander, frontman of the band Years & Years (now continuing as Alexander’s solo project) and star of the recent hit series It’s A Sin is reportedly in talks to take on the iconic role of The Doctor in BBC’s Doctor Who once Jodie Whittaker(who took up the role as the first-ever female Doctor in 2017) steps down from the role (which has been rumoured to be at the end of the upcoming season).

According to sources Alexander was “on the verge of being announced as the new Doctor”, and that “negotiations are at an advanced stage”.

If cast, Alexander would be the first openly gay actor to play the time lord.

Rumours have been swirling that Olly Alexander could take the role since his acclaimed performance as Ritchie Tozer in the Channel 4 drama It’s A Sin.

Former Doctor Who showrunner and It’s A Sin creator Russell T Davies previously backed Alexander as the next Doctor, insisting he would “make a marvellous Doctor Who”.

UPDATE: Olly Alexander Doctor Who speculation officially denied by his management.

Alexander’s new single Starstruck is out now.

It’s A Sin is available on BluRay & DVD now.
