Review: Ekaj (2015)

EKAJ is a love story between two drifters, a naive teenager and a hustler. The film capture’s the journey of a runaway in New York City. Ekaj (Jake Mestre) meets Mecca (Badd Idea)who takes him under his care. Mecca has AIDS and multiple problems of his own. He is high all day but still manages to be the only voice of reason in Ekaj’s hopeless world. They cruise the city together looking for money and places to stay. The core of the movie is Ekaj, who thinks he will become the lover of a rich man and be taken care of for life but ends up finding his dreams quickly shattered. Although he makes some money as a prostitute, he finds himself disposable, replaceable and lacking what it takes to survive in the city. Written/directed by Cati Gonzalez and produced by Cati & Mike Gonzalez

Shooting Clerks – UK Premiere Review

Disclaimer; as a long time fan and supporter of the project, this may not be the most unbiased review but i still wanted to share my thoughts.


‘Shooting Clerks‘ is a biopic of writer/director Kevin Smith which focuses on the production of his 1994 debut hit film Clerks as well as looking into the events that preceded and followed it. From writer/director Christopher Downie and producers Brett Murray & Ryan James the film stars Mark FrostChris Bain, Jay Booton, Tom Sullivan, Stephanie Price, Brett Murray and features cameos from several original Clerks cast members including Brian O’HallaranScott Schiaffo, Marilyn Ghigliotti, Ernie O’Donnell & Kevin Smith. 

After several preview screenings and festival appearances in the USA & UK the film had its UK Premiere at The Prince Charles Cinema on Tuesday 16th January 2018 followed by a Q&A with cast & crew.

Review: Lost In Paris (2016)

Lost in Paris is a comedy from writing/directing duo Dominique Abel and Fiona Gordon; the pair also star in the film.

“Fiona (Fiona Gordon) visits Paris for the first time to assist her myopic Aunt Martha (the late Emmanuelle Riva). Catastrophes ensue, mainly involving Dom (Dominique Abel), a homeless man who has yet to have an emotion or thought he was afraid of expressing.”

Kevin Smith biopic ‘Shooting Clerks’ gets UK premiere!

It’s been a long road for Scotland-based Indie film-makers Auld Reekie Media; but their debut feature ‘Shooting Clerks’ is finally getting it’s UK Premiere at the famous Prince Charles Cinema on 16th January 2018 @ 8:45pm . This is a momentous occasion as Kevin Smith himself has previously held several screenings at the venue; most recently for Yoga Hosers in 2016.

B&B is a new LGBT-themed thriller from writer/director Joe Ahearne (Doctor Who) in a Hummingbird Films production; funded by Creative EnglandFilm Cymru, and Pont Neuf Productions. The film is being distributed in the UK by Pecadillo Pictures.

‘Marc (Tom Bateman) and Fred (Sean Teale) return to bait the owner (Paul McGann) of a remote Christian B&B who they had successfully sued him for not allowing them to share a bed. Events take a deadly turn when another guest arrives, who they think might have something sinister in mind’
