The BBC has today confirmed John Simm will return as The Master in Doctor Who. This follows a news story published by The Sun following the press launch event.
He will battle The Doctor (Peter Capaldi), new companion Bill Potts (Pearl Mackie) and Nardole (Matt Lucas) in the forthcoming series of Doctor Who.
John Simm says:
“I can confirm that it’s true, thanks to the power of time travel I’m back. It’s always a pleasure to work with this great team of people and I can’t wait for you all to see what The Master gets up to in the next series.
The new series of Doctor Who will see the Time Lord joined by his first openly gay companion.

A new trailer for Doctor Who series 10 has been released today live on the Doctor Who Twitter account and BBC YouTube channel at 3pm. It received its television premiere ahead of the Let It Shine finale.
Capaldi first stepped into the TARDIS in 2013, and will leave the iconic role in the 2017 Christmas special after three incredible series of the BBC’s global hit sci-fi drama.
He made the announcement on Jo Whiley’s BBC Radio 2 show tonight; speaking about the upcoming series this Spring he exclusively revealed the next series of the world’s longest running sci-fi show will be his last.

BBC Children in Need will play host to an exclusive clip from this year’s Doctor Who Christmas special on the charity’s annual Appeal night, Friday 18th November. The sneak peek will see the Doctor, played by Peter Capaldi and Nardole, played by Matt Lucas, team up with an investigative reporter played by Charity Wakefield and a masked vigilante played by Justin Chatwin to defend New York from a terrifying alien invasion before the full episode, ‘The Return of Doctor Mysterio’, airs at Christmas.
