Event ReportersLewis Mainwaring & Ben Gummery

This was our third ‘con’ as ‘Official Press’ thanks to Showmasters !!!!  Held at the Cardiff Motorpoint Arena the home of South Wales geekery.

IMG_5632Guests that attended this weekends event included:-

  • Peter Mayhew (Star Wars),
  • Jemma Redgrave (Doctor Who),
  • Daniel Kash (Aliens),
  • Deborah Watling (Doctor Who – Classic Series),
  •  Danny John Jules (Red Dwarf),
  • Ryan Gage (The Musketeers).

Many visitors to the convention were in Cosplay – which has become part of the ‘con’ experience. Highly influenced by recent films there where many Deadpool and Kylo Ren (Star Wars Episode VII) cos-players !!!!!

IMG_5601There was also ‘a place for all things Comics’ in the Comic Zone and an expanded Gaming Zone for video gaming fans – located on the higher levels of the arena.

Located in the Comic Zone was numerous comic book artists and writers such as Dan Slott (writer: Amazing Spider-man) and Jorge Molina (artist: A-Force).

There was a wide range of stalls selling all types of merchandise, artwork, comics, costumes etc. Here’s our geeky purchases from the event.

FotorCreatedDuring the event we were lucky enough to meet several guests including Dan Slott, Jorge Molina (who sketched this amazing Wolverine on our comic cover) and Doctor Who’s Jemma Redgrave.

We were able to interview Geoffrey Beevers who played The Master on Doctor Who in the 1981 serial The Keeper of Traken.

We also attended a very interesting and fun Doctor Who talk featuring Colin Baker, Nicola Bryant, Geoffrey Beevers, Deborah Watling & Prentis Hancock; sharing their experiences of Doctor Who from the classic series up to the most recent. You can listen to the full panel below:

Overall, we really enjoyed our time at FCCC. Bring on the next one !!!!

  1. Looks like it was another great con 🙂 I heard that on the Saturday it was a little too full for some people, but I suppose that’s what you can expect at a big con like this. Hope to bump into you at the Autumn FCCC 🙂
