***Spoilers for Doctor Who Series 11 – Episode 4***
We were lucky enough to get a sneak peak at the filming for Doctor Who Series 11, Episode 4 ‘Arachnids In The UK‘ when it filmed at Celtic Manor Resort; a large hotel complex in Newport, South Wales that served as the fictional ‘Robertson resort’ (set in Sheffield) and several other locations seen in the episode. Here is the episode synopsis:
“Something’s happening with the spiders in this city.” The Doctor, Yaz, Graham and Ryan find
their way back to Yorkshire – and Yaz’s family – only to find something is stirring amidst the eight-legged arachnid population of Sheffield”
The episode guest starred Chris Noth and Shobna Gulati, Written by Chris Chibnall. Directed by Sallie Aprahamian.

The production team changed this cloak room desk (above) into the reception desk for the Robertson resort. Dust sheets were used to make hotel appear like it was under construction.
The graphics team based their hotel signs on the hotels real signs (left); even down to the room numbers. The hotel remained open during filming although certain areas were closed off.
